This week my amazing and beautiful assistant helped me. She is the new Vanna White! If I let her she would get sucked into the YouTube vortex for days, so she was thrilled to help me make a video.

New This Week

  1. Strawberry pallet area
  2. Fill raised beds with tree debris

Why a pallet strawberry area??? The pallets help to smother weeds. I have made it my mission to reduce weeds in the garden, we have a huge space and we want to make it as managable as we can. Another benefit of using pallets is they define an area well and give it an organized look. Remember, if you are going to use pallets in the garden they need to be Heat Treated (HT) NOT Chemical Treated!

Why are we putting the trees we cut down into the raised beds??? The raise garden beds are 21 inches high and are 5 ft by 3 ft. It would take a lot of soil to fill them. We had to cut down trees because they were blocking light and they were readily available. We put them into the garden beds to save healthy soil for the top. The branches will slowly decompose and put nutrients back into the ground. The branches also retain water and will prevent the raised bed from drying out.
