Workboxes

The Sue Patrick Workbox system is a popular way among homeschoolers to organized daily activities. We have been using it for the past two months and my 2 1/2  year old already has the hang of it. It helps me stay organized and keeps her on task.

Here is a quick explanation of workboxes. A student has a system of boxes/drawers or some other kind of container. The instructor or YOU will fill as many boxes with activities/lessons as you would like the child to complete in that day. In the system there is some way for the child to distinguish whether an activity has been completed or not. The child then works their way through the boxes. This type of system shows the child how much work they need to do and gives them the ability to work independently if they are able.

Here is what our system looks like…

This is our workbox station that we purchased on Amazon.

I have created a bunch of tabs. They have velcro dots on them.

I set up her day like this…

She then goes to the first box, takes everything out of the box, does the assignment, puts everything back in the box, and then she moves the tab over to show that it is done. Then she moves on to the next box and does the same.

Ta-da! Easy and organized!
